Belay (Part 2 of
3)
You will learn to tie into a harness and to "belay."
When climbing, you are attached by an extremely strong nylon rope
to a harness around your waist, connected to a pulley above, then
to a partner on the ground. The weight of either person makes no
difference; they will be anchored to the floor, watching you, &
removing slack from the rope. This process is called belaying. In
your first lesson you will learn to belay and to climb.
Don't have a partner? No problem. We offer special lessons for
individuals Tues. & Wed. at 6:30pm. Also, Mon.-Thurs., 6-9pm, a
staff member is available to belay you. Of course, you can come
in anytime. But, we have extra staff on these days. Also, you can
try bouldering
or use our partners
page to find a partner. Are you ready? Let's get climbing! |
